Psychologist

A psychologist is a doctoral-level clinician (PhD or PsyD) licensed to provide psychological assessment, testing, and therapy.

Scope

Psychologists are trained in formal assessment and a range of evidence-based therapies. In most states they do not prescribe medication; that's a psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Why it matters when choosing a therapist

If you may need testing (for ADHD, learning differences, or diagnostic clarity), a psychologist's training is directly relevant. Kairn shows each provider's license class plainly, never disguised.
