Editorial & verification policy
Kairn is a therapist directory with educational reference pages. Here is how we verify directory facts, maintain public content, label its limits, and fix mistakes.
How we verify listings
- Licenses are checked against primary sources — state licensing boards and the federal NPI (NPPES) registry — and every profile shows the date of verification.
- Interstate telehealth eligibility is computed from primary-source PSYPACT and Counseling Compact data (see the compact tracker), not a secondary list.
- Availability is reported by providers and re-confirmed every 14 days; a profile that goes unconfirmed is paused, not shown as active.
- The honesty bar: we verify that a license is real and current — we do not verify degrees, and verification is never a measure of clinical quality.
Directory scope
Kairn does not provide therapy, diagnose, make clinical recommendations, or coordinate care. Verification confirms a listed credential at a point in time; it does not evaluate clinical quality or guarantee availability, a response, an appointment, or fit.
How we date information
Dated directory facts and their structured data use the same stored record. The date says when information was checked or reported; it is not a promise that nothing has changed since. Compact and licensure pages carry their data's review date, and educational pages carry their last editorial review.
How our educational content is made
Our guides and glossary are written to be accurate, plain-language, and strictly informational — never a diagnosis or medical advice, and never with embedded client testimonials. Pages that touch clinical or legal questions cite primary sources and carry a last-reviewed date. We do not yet publish a named clinical or legal reviewer; when we do, it will be a real, consenting professional — never a fabricated byline. Until those reviewers are configured, clinical guides, glossary entries, and telehealth-law pages remain out of search indexes and our public sitemap.
Answer engines & AI crawlers
Our public crawler rules allow discovery of release-ready directory and transparency pages. The plain-text guide at /llms.txt follows the same reviewer gates: it omits clinical and legal content until the applicable real reviewer is configured.
Corrections
Verification provenance is append-only by design: when something changes, we add a new, dated record rather than quietly overwriting history. If you believe a listing or a fact here is wrong, email support@kairn.health and we'll check it against the primary source.
