LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
An LMFT is a master's-level therapist licensed with specialized training in relationships and family systems.
Scope
LMFTs work with couples, families, and individuals through a relational lens — treating concerns in the context of the relationships around a person, not just the individual.
Why it matters when choosing a therapist
For couples therapy, family conflict, or relationship-centered concerns, an LMFT's training is directly on point. They can also treat individual concerns.
